The Geek Autolinker 4.6 system has evolved dramatically from a simple
system that hyperlinked key words to a full fledged system that not
only hyperlinks key words in posts; it can also produce hovering
popup boxes over the words that are completly customizable.
The popups support bbcode and html and are categorized. Each category
can have its own style and method of replacement (ie 1 style can be
simple links with no popups, 1 style can produce popups with titles,
1 style with no title, etc...). Each category style and replacement
code is totally cusomtizable to how you want them to appear.
Each category can also track stats of each replacement. This allows
you to gather useful statistics of how many impressions (and click
thrus) GAL makes broken down into the script and the forum. This is
set to a category level to allow you to minimize queries and tracking
information for irrelevant GALS
The goal with the latest version was to introduce this as the first
component in the Geek Universal Sponsor Hack which will allow you to
optionally integrate with Geek Advertising Banners to produce a
system to allow users to buy their own advertising space and keywords
as well as manage them and get their own stats.
